Amazing scenic trail to walk along in Ottawa. You get a river view and you can also see the Parliament. Very peaceful and not much people at the time I went.
Awesome place on winter. Nothing similar.
Photos were taken on 1rs and only day of opening in 2024

Beautiful spot for a stroll. Great place to see the changing of the leaves as it reflects the water in the canal. In the winter, the canal turns into a skating rink where people can skate for miles. Wonderful spot to take photos of the reflections and just mindlessly walk around without worrying about traffic.
My favourite Ottawa playground. Spring, summer, and fall great for walking, cycling, running, and roller blading. There is even road closures on Sundays in the summer. Take it all in with spring tulip festival and manicured gardens. In the winter it's my skating rink. Imagine never seeing the same face twice, skating for an hour and still not completing the whole rink. It's over 15 km there and back.
We walked the Rideau trail and sailed the canal with the cruise electric boat during our visit in Ottawa, it was amazing experience. It was mid October and the nature was colourful and beautiful. Everywhere clean and nice people and community walking around.
I has the occasion to attend the opening of the first 8 gates of the canal, it's so impressive
Rideau Canal - Ottawa.
Two words suffice - an artist’s canvas .
This was one of our spots to be visited during our Ottawa day trip and turned out be most rejuvenating and enjoying.
As we disembarked our vehicles and moved out the tulips on sidewalks were welcoming to the stunning pathway that led us to the over bridge on the river.
As we walked pass the display board, the river and walkways offered pleasing views of surroundings and Ottawa skyline.
Cruise 🚢 rides option available if you can spare 2 to 3 hrs. Else an half an hour stroll across the river bridge and side ways suffice.
Soak in the clean air, soothing environment and well laid walkway along and around the spot.
Enjoy.
Some people feel that Ottawa is a boring capital city. I beg to differ. It might not be all that pleasant in the cold winter but overall I think it has many beautiful things. The Rideau Canal is an attractive landmark. It goes for miles and it’s different along the way. Many beautiful spots to enjoy. It’s most pleasant in the downtown area where it connects to the Ottawa River. I never get bored with it. 👍😎
